Erica Walters is a nationally recognized fitness expert, Classical Pilates instructor, Certified GYROTONIC® Method teacher, and author. She is the founder and owner of Pilates Fit Studio, with locations in Louisville and Pewee Valley, Kentucky. Her studios are uniquely dedicated to Classical Pilates and the GYROTONIC® Expansion System, exclusively offering these modalities in a fully equipped, professional setting. Pilates Fit Studio also serves as the official Real Pilates® Teacher Training Center for New York-based Real Pilates®, where Erica is a lead instructor trainer, mentoring and certifying the next generation of classical teachers.
A dynamic leader in the Pilates industry, Walters is known for her keen eye for movement, deep understanding of body mechanics, and skill in creating customized, corrective programs for a wide range of clients. Her teaching style is motivating, supportive, and technically rigorous, emphasizing control, precision, and intelligent alignment. As a Level 3 Certified Classical Pilates Instructor and a host and lead trainer for Real Pilates® Teacher Training, she mentors and certifies the next generation of classical instructors.
Erica is the creator of Exercise the Safe Way with The Better Back®: Pilates for Osteoporosis, a comprehensive program designed to promote safe, effective movement for individuals with low bone density. As part of this initiative, she authored a book featuring an at-home workout plan and practical guidance on bone-supportive nutrition. She also developed studio-based programming integrating functional movement, Classical Pilates, and GYROTONIC®—now implemented across her studios. In addition, Erica created a continuing education series for movement professionals, offering advanced training in spinal safety and osteoporosis-informed programming.
Originally from Southern California, Walters earned a degree in Human Communication from Arizona State University, followed by a post-baccalaureate in Exercise Science from the University of Louisville. She is completing her Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Science at Tulane University.
Erica is a distinguished Real Pilates Teacher Training® Program graduate. She trained under second-generation teacher Alycea Ungaro in New York City. She has completed The Classical Syllabus® and the Advanced Teacher Training Program at The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado. She is also a Certified Level 2 GYROTONIC® Method instructor and SpringTone® Certified Teacher.
Her diverse professional background includes teaching in Scottsdale, San Diego, and Dallas and serving as an adjunct professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science at Oklahoma City University. Walters has written for Pilates Style Magazine and led video content for Blink Energy Water in Los Angeles. StyleBlueprint, Louisville Business, The Voice-Tribune, Arizona Republic, and Kentucky Living have featured her work and expertise. In 2021, she was honored as one of Oldham County’s “Top 40 Under 40.”
In 2020, Walters co-founded a virtual fitness platform with instructor Lauren Bruker. The platform offered Pilates-based programs tailored to beginners, back pain, osteoporosis, and strength development. It also featured contributions from local fitness professionals in yoga, HIIT, barre, and nutrition. In 2022, the venture was successfully acquired by a Canadian wellness company.
Outside the studio, Erica enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors with her husband Mike, their son MJ, and their two dogs: a Golden Retriever named Bruce and a Labrador Retriever named Milo.
