Many of us have done a little bit of Pilates at some point; Pilates-style moves are found in plenty of workouts that incorporate yoga or bodyweight exercises. But it’s another thing to step into an actual Authentic Pilates studio and find yourself face-to-face with the famous reformer.
Apart from the commonly known reformer, you will find the studio packed with every piece of functional Pilates equipment Joseph Pilates invented. Wall units, Cadillac, Guillotine, Baby Arm Chair, Wunda Chair, High Chair, Toe and Foot correctors, Ped-o-pul, Neck tensiometers, baby barrel, spine corrector, high barrel, Airplane boards, and magic circles. Yep, you read all those apparatuses correctly…and we use them all in our private and small group sessions!
While all the equipment may seem scary – Joseph Pilates developed each piece of equipment to assist people in learning Pilates. The equipment will provide resistance and assistance and all our teachers have completed 600-950-hour comprehensive certifications in the Classical Method to ensure you get to incorporate all the equipment to benefit you and your body!
How will you feel?
Unlike a CrossFit or HIIT workout, you aren’t going to be winded, out of breath, whipping your body all over the place, or have an aggravated back!
You will move and sweat.
Your legs, arms, and abs will feel the burn as you are doing exercises, but it will not stress your body.
Your bones will strengthen, muscles will tone and firm, and you will look fit.
Most of all, as you work out and begin to feel better physically, we hope you will also begin to feel better mentally. You’ll stand taller, move with grace, and most importantly, feel amazing.
Why should you do Pilates?
The real question is, Why aren’t you doing Pilates? Pilates is a workout! The work will tone your whole body, increase range of motion and flexibility, keep your spine supple and youthful, and give you a spring in your step!
What Should You Wear?
Your instructor needs to see your body and how it moves. A tighter fitting top and tighter fitting pants will allow this and help you move freely on the equipment. Looser tops get in the way or hang open. Pilates Fit Studio requires you to wear socks with grips. If you don’t have any, the studio sells Toe Sox and Tavi Noir. Refrain from wearing any jewelry that might scratch the equipment. We also recommend not wearing too much lotion to avoid slipping.
If you’re thinking about trying Pilates for the first time…
